Salam. Can we say Happy New year to our family and friends or not? Some people say that we are not allowed to say because our Islamic calendar starts in Moharram. I could not understand what’s wrong in ?

It’s absolutely fine. The two calendars are equally relevant for us. Lunar calendar is meant for religious purposes and the other one for worldly purposes. Some religious people are unfortunately obsessed with the idea of making Islam appear unique and completely different from other systems. This attitude is damaging from the point of view of presenting the message of Islam properly.
