Do I Give Fatwa ?
I know from your site that you do not give fatwa or Islamic opnion.May I request you kindly direct me to right source for fatwa as i am living out of country.
Answer
I don’t give fatwa but I do give religious opinions. The difference between the two is that although, as you have rightly pointed out, the two are one and the same, many people consider a fatwa as an Islamically binding decree. If you consider my opinion as simply another opinion which would become binding on you only if it makes Islamic sense to you because of its religious arguments and if you come across a more convincing opinion, it will remain no more applicable, please feel free to ask me. What I have mentioned about my opinion is an understanding applicable for opinions of all Muslim scholars. The only individual whose religious decree is binding is that of the prophet, alaihissalaam. However, his statements too have to be understood in the light of Quran, sunnah and other ahadith because the narratives we have in the books of hadith attributed as his statements may not always be a true reflection of what he said.
